Twitch has announced its intention to bring new features to its celebrated streaming platform. Content creators will benefit from the addition of the “Rooms” feature, as they try to establish a better connection with their communities. This feature is already available and will be improved, and its release was also marked by the arrival of the “Clip Champs”. The most helpful fans are going to be celebrated by this feature which acknowledges their contribution.
The Rooms feature allows Twitch users to check out various discussions simultaneously if they are on the same channel. For content creators, it will also make it easier to grant and limit access to visitors, for the benefit of their fans. This will provide players with the incentive to subscribe, as moderators and subscribers could have exclusive access to certain rooms. On each channel, content creators can host a maximum of three rooms, which they open for discussion even in the absence of the streamer.
The Top Cheerers feature arrives in March
Scheduled for international release in the final week of March, the Top Cheerers feature will be available at the beginning of the new month. It has limited scope and celebrates users who chat in the most cheerful way, by using emotes. Twitch hopes that this will provide users with the incentive to use its virtual currency called Bits more often to receive exclusive badges.
Clip Champ does a very similar thing and rewards commitment, by awarding badges to active viewers and subscribers. The requirements are more than reasonable and anyone who has published a minimum of one clip per week will be eligible. Twitch will also have a leaderboard where the Top Cheerers will be able to monitor their performance and compare it with fellow users.
